Access Remote PC

Remote access to your PC from anywhere in the world

Transfer files, run programs, access network resources

Starting from version 4.6.1, Access Remote PC can autodetect your network settings including the type of proxy and its address. This includes proxy settings specified in Internet Explorer or proxy settings specified by an automatic configuration script. Access Remote PC can also autodetect the address of the autoconfiguration script on your network. Usually, if your browser can access our web site www.access-remote-pc.com, then Access Remote PC will be able too. However there may be exceptions when you will need to specify the proxy settings manually within Access Remote PC.

Regardless of whether you use RPC subscription service or not, you may have to configure Access Remote PC (either the client, the server, or both) to work through a proxy if this is the only route to the Internet on your local network. On the client, the network proxy settings are available under the Tools/Network Options menu. On the server, they can be accessed from the Internet page as Network Settings (RPC Number must be activated).

To specify the proxy address, check the box "Use specified proxy address" and type in the address of the proxy. Choose the type of proxy (HTTP, SOCKS4, and SOCKS5 are currently supported). The proxy port number may be specified in the separate Port box or (which may be more convenient) in the Address box this way: COMPUTER_NAME:PORT_NUMBER or IP_ADDRESS:PORT_NUMBER.

Your proxy may require username and password. You can specify them in the Username and Password text boxes. If they are not specified or the specified password is rejected by the proxy, you will get a proxy login box while connecting.

Starting from version 4.5, Access Remote PC supports HTTP protocol in addition to TCP protocol. HTTP protocol can be used regardless of whether you connect through HTTP proxy or directly. Access Remote PC server software and our online RPC Proxy Service now act as specialized Web servers and can accept both TCP and HTTP connections on the same port. We recommend to use TCP protocol. In case of connectivity problems you may also try HTTP protocol.

RPC Proxy Service can accept TCP and HTTP connections on 3 different ports (80, 443, and 34013). By default, the connections are made to port 443 (the standard HTTPS port number). TCP connections via HTTP proxy are made using the CONNECT method. CONNECT method is used by HTTP proxies for secure HTTP (HTTPS). The default port for HTTPS is 443. If you are connecting via HTTP proxy and use the recommended TCP protocol, you should set the RPC Service Port number to 443 because most HTTP proxies do not allow CONNECT to ports other than 443.
