Access Remote PC consists of two programs:
- Remote PC Server - this program must be running on a computer to be able to access and control it remotely.
- Remote PC Client - this program must be used on the connecting computer to access a remote computer, view the screen of a remote computer and control its keyboard and mouse.
By installing and using the Access Remote PC software, you agree to the terms
and conditions of the End-User License Agreement (EULA) for Access Remote PC software.
Both the server and the client are distributed in a single setup package in a
form of an executable Setup Wizard which is available for free download at
www.access-remote-pc.com.
Additionally, we provide a standalone client and a
standalone server (packaged as executable files)
that do not require installation and can be run under restriced Windows user accounts.
We also provide free Java client on our web site.
The Java client can be used on Windows systems that do not allow to download and run executables and on non-Windows systems that cannot run Windows executables.
Important:
On NT/2000/XP operating systems you must run the Setup Wizard under an account with administrative privileges.
Installing Access Remote PC from a non-administrative account may fail or install the program without some features.
Important:
In order to remotely connect to your computer you must create a user account during installation or after installation on the Users and Passwords page of the Remote PC Server window.
Remote PC Server always requires a password to access your computer. If you don't create an account
during or after installing the program, nobody (including you) will be able to access it remotely.
Do not confuse this username and password with any username and password you may have with Access Remote PC company
(password to the billing area, password to the account area, or RPC service password). The password for accessing your computer
is created by you and is not known to any Access Remote PC employee. If you have forgotten this password, create a new password on the host (server) computer.
If you have forgotten this password while you are away from the host computer, there is nothing you can do except trying to recall it.
You can learn more about security features of the product in the Security section.
Starting from version 4.7, Access Remote PC supports remote upgrades. This means that you can connect to a remote computer via Access Remote PC and upgrade the program to a new version.
Upon starting the final step of the installation process, you will be disconnected. You will be able to reconnect after a few seconds when installation is done.
Though the Access Remote PC setup process is very robust, use the remote upgrade with caution as any failure during installation may cause
the upgrade to fail and you will not be able to reconnect.
If you want to install Access Remote PC silently (that is without showing UI), you should use the following command-line options:
rpcsetup.exe -install -silent -hideicon -user USERNAME -pass PASSWORD
This will automatically install Access Remote PC and create a user account with a full set of permissions.
These command-line options are useful for deploying Access Remote PC server across a large network.
Access Remote PC provides a powerful command-line interface. To learn more about command-line options, see the Command-Line Interface section.
