Remote PC Server can be run either in the standalone or in the service mode.
In the service mode, Remote PC Server can automatically start at boot time,
provide access to the Windows logon screen, execute Ctrl-Alt-Del, and restart in Safe Mode.
On Windows NT OS family, which currently includes NT 4.0, 2000, XP, and 2003, the Access Remote PC service
is registered under the system's service manager which can be accessed from the Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
In the service mode, the user interface (UI) is run in a separate process. The UI lets you control the service.
Shutting down the UI does not shut down the Access Remote PC service.
You can shut down or start the service from the General page of the Remote PC Server window or via the Services applet on the Windows NT OS family.
Note that on the NT family of the Windows OS, only users with administrative privileges can install services.
In the standalone mode, the Remote PC Server runs as ordinary application in a single process.
The standalone mode is useful when you need to run the Remote PC Server on a computer on which you have no administrative privileges.
Usually (but not always), this means that you also have no permission to install software.
The standalone server does not require to be installed and we provide a separate download link to the standalone server on our web site.
